In March 2017, the World Health Organization officially recognized the safety, effectiveness, stability and long-term of controlling Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti, and strongly recommended the use of Wolbachia technology for more field application research in countries around the world.

In the past five years, the Gates Foundation has invested more than 25 million US dollars to actively promote the industrialization of this technology and promote its application in Africa, Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

Fighting Mosquitoes with Mosquitoes technology has been developed in China for nearly 20 years. From 2014 to 2017, Professor Xi Zhiyong's team carried out four-year field research on two independent islands in Nansha District and Panyu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Vietnam is implementing a plan to eliminate dengue by using IIT + sit technology.

At present, Singapore's environmental agency releases mosquitoes locally every week and begins preparations for the establishment of a production base in Cambodia.

In Australia, the technology has passed the biosafety assessment and successfully completed the field test.

In the United States, the technology has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through microbial insecticides, and has been approved to be released in 20 states in the United States.

The company under Google has joined the technical research and officially released mosquitoes in California.

The construction was officially approved by the Mexican government in November 2017 and released in March 2018.

Preparations for the establishment of a mosquito factory began in Brazil.
